Inclement Weather Procedures & Communication
At King’s Academy, the safety of our students, families, and staff is our highest priority. We are committed to providing clear, accurate, and timely communication whenever inclement weather or emergency conditions may impact school operations.
How Decisions Are Made
In the event of potential inclement weather (such as ice, snow, flooding, or severe storms), conditions are closely monitored throughout the evening and early morning hours.
-
-
Designated staff monitor road and weather conditions, paying special attention to rural routes, bridges, and travel safety for families and staff who commute from surrounding areas.
-
Information is reviewed by school leadership to determine whether conditions are safe for normal operations.
-
A decision regarding a delayed opening, early release, or school closure is typically made and communicated by approximately 6:00 a.m., when possible.
-
Please note that while we consider decisions made by nearby schools and districts, King’s Academy does not automatically follow local ISDs. Each decision is made independently, with our unique community and travel considerations in mind.
How Families Are Notified
When a weather-related decision is made, families will be notified promptly through the following official communication channels:
-
-
Parent Notification Systems – via Email and Texting through KACS alerts, based on family info in FACTS/Renweb
-
Official Facebook Page – follow us at www.facebook.com/kacsknights
-
Remind App – Text @kingsn to 81010 to receive schoolwide notifications
-
We encourage all families to ensure their contact information is up to date and that notifications are enabled on all platforms.
Important Reminder
-
-
Announcements are only made when there is a change to the regular school schedule.
-
If no message is sent, families should expect a normal school day.
-
Our Commitment
We recognize that many of our families travel significant distances to attend King’s Academy. Every weather-related decision is made prayerfully and carefully, prioritizing safety while maintaining consistency and clarity for our community.
Thank you for your partnership and trust as we work together to keep our students safe.
